Job summary

MPI, a nationally recognized commercial construction and construction management firm, seeks a candidate in Columbus to support project managers on planning, coordination, and execution of complex commercial projects.

You will assist with subcontractor management, procurement, and project buyout, plus manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and documentation while tracking schedules and costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in commercial construction, internships, co-ops, or construction project support roles.
  • Experience or exposure to healthcare, higher education, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or other large-scale construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, project coordination, and construction processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with scheduling, cost controls, estimating, subcontractor coordination, or managing portions of a project scope is a plus.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn from experienced construction professionals.
  • Team-focused personality with strong problem-solving abilities and a desire to build a long-term career in construction management.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in advancing into future Project Manager positions.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects.
  • Assist with subcontractor management, procurement, and project buyout activities.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Track project schedules and assist with project reporting and cost control efforts.
  • Coordinate communication between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Conduct project site visits and assist with field coordination activities.
  • Help identify and resolve project issues while maintaining budget and schedule objectives.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch list management, and turnover documentation.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, design partners, and trade contractors.
  • Support project teams in delivering exceptional customer service and project outcomes.

Job Description
