Job summary

Flowtec Construction in downtown Chicago is seeking a Project Manager to take full ownership of projects from preconstruction to turnover. You will manage budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall financial health while overseeing multiple active projects across diverse scopes.

The role requires a strong background in commercial construction, experience with ground-up, interiors, renovations or adaptive reuse, and excellent client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from preconstruction through turnover.

• Lead buyout, procurement, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and forecasting.
• Coordinate with Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, and clients.
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong owner relationships.
• Identify risks and proactively keep schedules and budgets on track.
• Mentor junior team members as the group grows.

I’m partnered with an established commercial General Contractor in downtown Chicago that’s looking to add a Project Manager to its growing team.

This is a strong opportunity for a PM who enjoys having full ownership of their projects rather than being responsible for only one piece of a larger build. You’ll manage projects throughout the full lifecycle — from early planning and preconstruction through construction and final closeout — while having the opportunity to oversee multiple projects at once.

The company delivers a diverse mix of ground-up construction, interior buildouts, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects throughout Chicagoland. Their portfolio spans retail, hospitality, mixed-use, multifamily residential, office, industrial, and education, giving PMs the opportunity to work across different sectors and project types throughout their career.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Manage projects from preconstruction through final turnover
• Take ownership of budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall project financials
• Manage multiple active projects depending on size and complexity
• Lead buyout, procurement, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and forecasting
• Coordinate closely with Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and clients
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong owner/client relationships
• Identify potential project risks and proactively keep schedules and budgets on track
• Help mentor Project Engineers and APMs as the team continues to grow

What They’re Looking For:

• Project Manager experience with a General Contractor
• Strong commercial construction background
• Experience with ground-up, interiors, renovations, and/or adaptive reuse
• Comfortable taking full ownership of projects and managing multiple jobs simultaneously
• Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, procurement, and contracts
• Experience with a mid-sized or smaller GC is a plus
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• All Chicagoland projects — no travel required
