Job summary

Navigate Search is seeking a Project Manager in the Chicago area to lead commercial and industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will manage budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractors, and client communications, working with the Superintendent and project team to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.

This role offers ownership of outcomes and exposure to repeat clients across the Midwest.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of construction project management experience.
• Experience with a general contractor.
• Strong scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor management.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost reports.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Lead subcontractor bidding, scope review, procurement, and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate design development, construction documents, and project specifications.
• Track long-lead materials and equipment.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
• Lead project and subcontractor meetings.
• Monitor project progress, costs, quality, and schedule.
• Partner with the Superintendent on day-to-day field coordination.
• Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project.
• Identify potential issues and develop solutions to keep projects on track.

A well-established, privately held general contractor is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to their growing team. The company has a strong track record delivering commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the Chicagoland market and surrounding Midwest.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a construction PM who enjoys being involved in the full project lifecycle and working directly with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.

You'll be responsible for managing project budget, schedule, procurement, subcontractors, client communication, and overall execution while partnering closely with the Superintendent and project team.

What You'll Do

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of construction project management experience
• Experience with a general contractor
• Strong understanding of scheduling, cost control, subcontractor management, and project execution
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of projects
• Procore experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
