The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. DYCD supports youth and community services through contracts with a broad network of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) throughout NYC. Our central task is administering city, state, and federal funds to innovative, practical, and quality programs that positively impact youth and communities.

The NYC Mayor’s Office of Talent & Workforce Development administers city services, public property, and most public agencies, enforcing laws across NYC. NYC Talent manages the City’s talent and workforce development system, aiming to benefit residents, employers, and the economy through partnerships, talent development, and program coordination. The Center for Youth Employment (CYE) is an initiative of NYC Talent, focused on expanding and improving programs that help young New Yorkers build skills and explore careers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Director in engaging with City agency partners, especially the NYC DOE, DYCD, and CUNY, supporting requests related to the Young Adult Career Success Action Plan.
  • Support system-level strategies to assist priority youth facing barriers to career readiness, including out-of-school/out-of-work youth, youth in foster care, justice-impacted youth, and LGBTQI+ young people.
  • Coordinate with external partners to improve programs supporting educational attainment, career exploration, and youth development.
  • Provide technical assistance to nonprofits and service providers.
  • Monitor and advise on relevant policies at all government levels.
  • Coordinate with NYC Talent teams to align youth programming with industry trends and City priorities.
  • Collaborate with External Affairs to showcase successes, share best practices, and promote initiatives.
  • Support supervision of Youth Interns and Apprentices as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree and two years of community work experience, or
  • High school diploma and six years of relevant community experience, or
  • Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Curious, with a desire to help and a commitment to public service.
  • Strong writing and computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Discreet handling of sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated team player with entrepreneurial spirit.
