Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead enterprise-level initiatives focused on 1099 reporting, tax compliance, and financial reporting programs. This individual will partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Technology, and business stakeholders to drive the successful delivery of critical regulatory and reporting projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background managing complex tax reporting initiatives within organizations that utilize large populations of independent agents, contractors, brokers, or other 1099-reportable payees.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project management for 1099 reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting initiatives.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Tax, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Technology, and Compliance.
• Drive requirements gathering, process improvement, testing, implementation, and change management activities.
• Ensure reporting programs align with IRS regulations and organizational compliance requirements.
• Manage projects related to 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, and other tax reporting processes, including year-end reporting cycles.
• Facilitate executive-level status reporting, steering committee meetings, and project governance activities.
• Identify process gaps, operational risks, and opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee vendor and third-party relationships when supporting tax reporting platforms or compliance programs.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with business objectives.

Required Qualifications

• PMP Certification (required).
• 7+ years of enterprise-level project management experience.
• Proven experience leading projects focused on:
  • 1099 reporting and filing programs
  • Tax reporting initiatives
  • Tax compliance programs
  • Financial, accounting, or regulatory reporting projects
• Experience working within Insurance, Financial Services, Wealth Management, Brokerage, or similar industries that support large populations of independent agents, contractors, or commission-based producers.
• Strong understanding of 1099 reporting requirements, reporting cycles, and compliance considerations.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, and Technology teams.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional initiatives with executive-level stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background supporting organizations with large agent, producer, contractor, or broker networks.
• Experience with tax reporting systems, compliance platforms, or vendor management solutions.
• Knowledge of IRS reporting requirements and year-end tax reporting processes.
• Experience leading enterprise transformation or process improvement initiatives within Finance or Tax functions.
