Job summary

Austin Commercial in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Engineer II to support commercial construction projects. You’ll assist the project manager with submittals, RFIs, schedules, and cost tracking, and help prepare contracts and close-out documents. The role emphasizes adherence to safety, quality, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in construction management or engineering and at least two years of industry experience, with OSHA 30-hour training

Qualifications

• 2 years’ work experience in the construction industry.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training may be obtained within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates; expedites deliveries to avoid delays.
• Participates in detailed estimating of cost and construction time for proposed changes; updates master schedule.
• Prepares submittal schedules and coordinates submissions with subcontractors; maintains logs and expedites delivery of submittals.
• Prepares and oversees reports (material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs, long-lead items).
• Assists in preparing subcontracts and resolving interpretation/execution issues; alerts PM to unresolved problems.
• Assists in verifying monthly subcontractor payment requests.
• Locates suppliers; reviews invoices for quantity, quality and price.
• Responds to RFIs from owners/subcontractors and routes information to field team.
• Assists in compiling close-out documents (as-built drawings, warranties).
• Participates in jobsite safety per Safety & Health Manual.
• When not on a project, may work in Estimating with detailed cost estimates.
