Job summary

Daifuku Intralogistics America Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer I to design and implement material handling systems in Grand Rapids, MI. This role requires collaboration across mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management to deliver safe, reliable solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in an engineering discipline, with internship experience in material handling, proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience.
• Experience, such as an internship, within the material handling industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of the material handling business and cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to interface with customers, vendors, and engineers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Design/Enhance conveyor systems and automated material handling projects.
• Review design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving design/test problems.
• Create approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD.
• Obtain material and product quotes from vendors and issue purchase orders.
• Monitor the project schedule, engineering effort, and material costs.
• Ensure equipment fits within system constraints and interfaces across teams.
• Travel up to 20% to measure buildings, equipment, and interface with customers.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Support engineering issue resolution with customers, vendors, and team members.
• Comply with Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures and promote sustainable process outputs.
