Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to streamline planning and coordination of project initiatives while maintaining budgets, compliance, and scheduling at our heavy civil sites.

The successful candidate will interpret drawings, solicit quotes, assist with bids, and create detailed schedules. Strong organizational and communication skills, plus 3–4 years of relevant experience, are essential for driving project success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–4 years of related experience required.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Effective verbal communication with employees, vendors, owners and contractors.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules and job costs across multiple sites.
• Competent in complete and accurate project take-offs and estimates.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review estimated productions with Superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Prepare a detailed schedule and maintain it.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update them.
• Prepare details for the Project Manager to submit pay estimates.
• Monitor production, resources and overall job cost versus estimated cost.
• Oversee close-out activities like punch lists and as-built drawings.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
