Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Project Engineer to streamline planning and coordination of project initiatives, ensuring budgets, compliance and scheduling are met across multiple heavy civil construction sites.

The candidate will read drawings, solicit quotes, prepare schedules, manage cost codes and assist the Project Manager with pay estimates and close-out tasks. Strong communication and budgeting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related degree preferred.
• 3–4 years of project experience on construction sites.
• Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules and quality across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare detailed project schedules and maintain them.
• Assemble job cost codes and update regularly.
• Submit pay estimates to Owners via the Project Manager.
• Monitor production, resources and cost against the budget.
• Oversee close-out tasks including punch lists and as-builts.
• Other tasks as needed.
