Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. in Columbus, OH is seeking a Project Engineer to streamline planning and coordinate project initiatives while maintaining budgets, compliance, and scheduling.

You will read drawings, solicit quotes, review estimates with Superintendents, and prepare detailed schedules and cost codes to support pay estimates. A high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred, with 3–4 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3–4 years of related experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multi-site operations.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review estimated productions with Superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Prepare detailed schedules and maintain project cost codes.
• Assist PM with pay estimates to Owners.
• Monitor production, resources, and costs to protect profit margins.
• Support close-out activities, including as-builts and O&M manuals.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
