Job summary

Baker Construction seeks a Project Engineer to support field activities and assist the Project Manager on multiple small projects or one larger project. You will help manage cost, schedule, compliance, procurement, and turnover.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent construction experience, strong Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to work across teams to meet budgets and deadlines. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2 years’ related experience (or 6 years) in construction.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generates and approves monthly billing and earned values.
• Develops and manages project schedules for small to mid-sized projects.
• Analyzes targets, job costs, and reports to support decisions.
• Alerts leadership to resource impacts and changes in crew size.
• Prepares budgets, updates, and weekly cost summaries for PM review.
• Supports procurement planning and change order estimates.
• Coordinates with pre-construction for procurement plans and bids.
• Reviews invoices and codes costs with Project Manager.
• Generates technical records and as-built documentation.
• Leads Lean/SQP initiatives and ensures subcontractor compliance.
