Job summary

Baker Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support field activities and work with the Project Manager on multiple small projects or mid-to-large projects.

You will help manage cost, schedule, procurement, and contract administration while ensuring safety and quality across teams. The role emphasizes LEAN practices, collaboration, and on-time project turnover powered by strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ construction experience or 6 years’ related experience
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Generates and approves monthly billing and earned values
• Develops and manages the project schedule on small to mid-sized projects
• Analyzes targets, job costs, and reports
• Monitors resource allocation and project impact with the Superintendent and PM
• Produces initial and updated budgets and reviews weekly cost summaries
• Assists with change orders and procurement planning
• Coordinates with pre-construction and project team on requirements and procurement plans
• Generates material take-offs and procurement documents
• Prepares and approves field purchase orders and major purchase orders
• Gathers financial reports and participates in project financial reviews
• Supports invoice approvals and cost coding
• Coordinates with safety and risk management per guidelines
• Ensures subcontractor compliance with terms and conducts follow-ups
