Project Engineer - Civil Construction & Cost Control

Job summary

Branch is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee all engineering and technical aspects of projects, reporting directly to the Project Manager and supporting safety, documentation, plans and specifications, and construction means and methods.

The role emphasizes organizing and planning to assure accuracy and quality, including budget control, schedule management, RFIs and change orders, and closeout activities. Extensive travel within the Northern Carolina Region is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Master’s degree in engineering/Construction and two years of experience in heavy civil NCDOT/large site construction.

Responsibilities

• Measure, report and forecast accurate cost and revenue dollars and quantities.
• Fully review contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Assist in defining project budget and cost codes with PM.
• Prepare Initial Budget Adjustments for PM review prior to start of work.
• Ensure the acquisition of permits through appropriate channels.
• Maintain and update RFI, Change Order, and Submittal Logs.
• Support quality control and ensure approved materials are used.
• Draft and submit Change Orders and RFIs per PM approval.
• Review subcontractor invoices for PM final approval.
• Review end of month billings.
• Develop and communicate an effective plan with the superintendent.
• Monitor work to ensure means and methods are followed.
• Maintain and update project schedule for PM review.
• Promote Branch Safety Culture.
• Review cost data for accuracy and assist PM in projections.

Education
