Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to lead engineering and planning for heavy civil construction projects. The role involves overseeing technical aspects, safety, documentation, scheduling, budgeting, and project closeout in collaboration with the Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in civil engineering or construction management; a Master’s degree and two years of heavy civil experience are preferred. Travel is expected within the western North Carolina region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in engineering/Construction and two years of experience in heavy civil NCDOT/large site construction (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering and technical aspects of the project with a focus on organizing and planning to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Review contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Assist PM in defining project budget and cost codes; prepare initial budget adjustments.
• Ensure acquisition of permits as required; maintain RFI, Change Order and Submittal Logs.
• Maintain Materials Book (C25s/Certs) and support quality control; ensure approved materials are used.
• Draft and submit Change Orders and RFIs with PM approval.
• Review end-of-month billings; monitor progress and update project schedule.
• Promote Branch Safety Culture; perform pre-punch list walk-through with PM and Superintendent.
• Enforce contract close-out timeline and reconciliation with Subcontractors.
