Salary: $63k - $72k depending upon experience

Summary Description

Responsible for working with the Engineering team in all phases of the design and programming of building automation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Provides support with as-builts, job design and submittal preparation, as required.
  • Works with the Engineering team in creating/editing customer graphics, schedules, alarms, reports and front-end related programs for building automation systems.
  • Installs customer graphics at site and performs quality control checking and testing as required.
  • Supports Engineering team in job programming as required.
  • Assembles, tests, installs and backs up front end for customer as required.
  • In conjunction with the Engineering team, designs and programs at least 2 projects.
  • Independently performs all engineering tasks on at least 3 projects including: design; sequence of operations; controller software; front end hardware set up; all front-end software creation and set up; system functional testing; customer training; and job commissioning.
  • Meets all project deadlines and works within budget hours.
  • Performs employee and customer training tasks as required.
  • Completes all assigned system software tasks prior to the beginning of system checkout.
  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all customers.
  • Ensures that response time on projects meets established Tri-M turnaround times.

Job Qualifications

Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Basic knowledge of drafting software (preferably AutoCAD or Visio).
  • Basic programming experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent human relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to think and make decisions independently within the guidelines provided.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40 hours/week.
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
  • Hearing adequate for phone use.
  • Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design.
  • Balance adequate for climbing ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
  • Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
