Job Description Summary:

The Field Project Engineer will perform field engineering management, field inspections, construction and/or commissioning management, FAT at vendor workshops, develop ITPs, conduct contractor walkthroughs, review bids, and assist in contractor selection. The FPE is expected to lead the site construction and commissioning team to complete site activities according to project objectives, priorities, contracts, and ensure adherence to engineering plans and specifications. Success is measured by safety performance, project cost, schedule compliance, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Serve as the on-site point of contact for construction and commissioning management.
  2. Oversee safety compliance including site orientation, work permits, job safety analysis, toolbox meetings, audits, and HSES events.
  3. Verify receipt and inspection of materials and equipment, manage non-conformities, and material custody transfer.
  4. Manage all project documents from development to handover, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  5. Manage and challenge external/internal suppliers to meet project goals and scope coverage.
  6. Expedite suppliers to meet delivery goals.
  7. Maintain communication logs with external partners.
  8. Develop and manage construction and commissioning schedules, report delays.
  9. Manage construction and pre-commissioning activities, respond to RFIs promptly.
  10. Ensure adherence to project execution plans and update as needed.
  11. Maintain effective communication within the project team.
  12. Support contract administration and assist during contractual disputes.
  13. Track and approve changes, maintain change logs, and escalate issues.
  14. Follow up on action items during construction and commissioning.
  15. Build knowledge of all project aspects to fill in for the Project Manager if needed.
  16. Contribute to developing construction and commissioning strategies.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years of field construction or related experience

Preferred:

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (preferred)
  • Experience managing projects (a plus)
  • Industrial gas experience (a plus)
