Job Description Summary:

The Field Project Engineer will perform field engineering management, including field inspections, construction and/or commissioning management, FAT at vendor workshops, developing ITPs, contractor walkthroughs, contractor bid reviews, and selection. The FPE is expected to lead the site construction and commissioning team to complete site activities according to project objectives, priorities, contracts, and engineering plans and specifications. Success is measured by safety performance, project cost, schedule adherence, and quality assurance.

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for construction and commissioning management.
  • Oversee safety compliance including site orientation, work permits, job safety analysis, toolbox meetings, audits, and HSES events.
  • Verify receipt and inspection of materials and equipment, manage non-conformities, and material custody transfer.
  • Manage all project documents from development to handover, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage and challenge external/internal suppliers, including EPCM contractors, to meet project goals and scope coverage.
  • Expedite suppliers to meet delivery goals.
  • Maintain communication logs with external partners.
  • Develop and manage construction and commissioning schedules, reporting delays promptly.
  • Manage construction and pre-commissioning activities, including RFIs with responses within 48 hours.
  • Ensure adherence to the project execution plan and update as needed.
  • Manage field communication and support contract administration and dispute resolution.
  • Track and approve changes, maintain change logs, and escalate issues.
  • Close action items promptly, review progress with the Project Director/Manager.
  • Maintain comprehensive project knowledge to potentially fill in for the Project Manager.
  • Provide inputs for construction and commissioning strategies, including contracting, constructability, and qualification assessments.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years of field construction or related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (preferred)
  • Experience managing projects (a plus)
  • Industrial gas experience (a plus)
