Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Project Engineer to support our sales team and drive revenue growth for Service Projects. The role focuses on design-build projects with owner-direct clients and requires close collaboration with sales and operations staff.

Responsibilities include estimating, bid development, contract support, and coordinating with the operations team. HVAC/plumbing knowledge plus sales/service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical industries.
• Experience in sales and/or service operations.
• Proficient with laptop computers and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
• Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, design and service.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with client and sales team to develop scope and bid strategies.
• Survey and gather information to estimate and propose work, including sizing and equipment selections, drawings for permitting, and subcontractor quotes.
• Advise the team on potential hazards related to the work.
• Generate proposal drafts for management and administrative review.
• Perform takeoffs and develop estimates for pipeline projects from plans and specs.
• Follow ColonialWebb procedures for go-no-go decisions, CRM documentation, bid review, and signature authority.
• Support negotiations of contracts and change orders; provide technical assistance as needed.
• Assist Operations by reviewing estimates, communicating scope via turnover meetings, mentoring installation staff, and promoting use of XOi/Canvas.

Responsibilities

• Survey and gather information required to estimate and propose work, including sizing and equipment selections, drawings/sketches for permitting, and subcontractor quotes.
• Advise the team of potential hazards associated with the work.
• Generate proposal drafts for management and administrative review.
• Perform complete takeoffs and develop accurate estimates for pipeline projects based on plans and specifications.
• Utilize ColonialWebb procedures for go‑no‑go decisions, CRM documentation, bid review, and signature authority.
• Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, and other contractual matters as required.
• Support the Operations Team by reviewing estimates from other sales individuals, communicating job scope and requirements via a job turn‑over meeting, mentoring installation team members, and driving adoption of software tools such as XOi and/or Canvas.

Qualifications

• Experience in the HVAC, Plumbing and/or Electrical industry.
• Experience in both sales and/or service operations.
• Proficient in laptop computer and Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).
