Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a Project Accountant to support multiple project managers and staff in daily financial activities and to maintain project health.

You will monitor expenditures, assist with contracts and change documentation, and ensure accurate accounting records within HDR's project accounting system. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in our employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
• A minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience
• Familiar with Earned Value Management
• Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Monitoring weekly and monthly project expenditure
• Monitoring and analysis of project status/completion
• Creating and tracking invoices
• Collections management
• Project budgeting
• Assists and administering of contracts, subcontracts and change documentation as necessary
• Quality Control of contract proposals and fees
• Monitoring earned value reports, and cost to complete reports
• Maintaining contract compliance
• Performance of various specialized accounting functions of moderate complexity
• Working within HDR's project accounting system to ensure documentation and accurate records are maintained
