Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing is seeking a Programs Manager for a mission-driven nonprofit in Oakland, CA. You will oversee multiple community-based programs, supervise staff, and strengthen operational systems to increase food access and community engagement.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, budget oversight, and partnership-building, with a hybrid schedule and potential for temporary-to-hire permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing and growing nonprofit programs, including 3–5 years of project management experience.
• 2–3 years of people management experience, including direct staff supervision and development.
• Experience with budgets, expenditures, grant administration, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations and expansion of multiple community-based programs focused on food access and neighborhood engagement.
• Supervise and develop an initial team of two Program Associates, with potential oversight of additional staff and contractors.
• Develop and improve systems, procedures, metrics, and reporting to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage program budgets, track expenditures, and support grant administration and compliance with leadership.
• Build relationships with community partners, neighborhood businesses, and residents to support expansion and participation.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development Manager on strategic staffing and program planning.
