Job summary

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) is seeking a full-time Librarian in Programming to join our team in Evansville, Indiana. The role requires a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science and involves delivering educational programs, engaging with the community, and supporting patrons with technology.

The Librarian will collaborate to create content, manage resources, and provide instruction or consultation to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• 3+ years’ experience in direct customer service.
• 2+ years’ experience with a variety of computer hardware and software (printers, digital catalogs, eReaders).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Must obtain Indiana LC 3 certification.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Advance the library’s mission and brand, engaging with patrons and colleagues.
• Identify and cultivate community relationships to support library initiatives.
• Interact with patrons and community members across service points, in person or remotely.
• Assist patrons with technology including computers, eBooks, or other devices.
• Handle escalated patron contacts with professionalism and empathy.
• Curate and create content to support community outcomes and engagement.
• Coordinate professional consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage library resources including volunteers, materials, and space.
• Act as Person in Charge at a location and ensure safety and service standards.
• Provide in-person, telephone, or virtual patron interactions to ensure a delightful experience.
