Job summary

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) is hiring an Accounting Specialist to manage the financial operations of the library’s auxiliary organizations, projects, programs, and grants. You will align disbursements with budgets and grants, record transactions, maintain contracts, and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3+ years' experience in governmental fund accounting.
• 3+ years' experience in nonprofit and philanthropic administrative finances.
• 3+ years' experience implementing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel, and Google Suite.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Manage auxiliary library organization budgeting, transaction recording, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Coordinate financial information and records for grants, sponsorships, and external funding reporting; complete required reporting.
• Maintain a register of the library’s contractual agreements, ensuring terms are up to date.
• Ensure record retention schedules are current and document destruction requests are submitted per guidelines.
• Safeguard assets through internal controls and assist with payroll processing and accounts payable.
• Participate in special projects, or other duties, as assigned.
