Job summary

The City of Avondale is seeking a Library Programmer in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department. This role performs specialized library work, including presenting public programs, cataloging, bibliographic searches, and assisting patrons with materials and computer resources.

This position is not supervisory, but may provide lead supervision in the absence of a supervisor and train volunteers as needed. Strong customer service and tech skills are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• At least 1 year of library experience in a public contact environment.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience delivering library programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons, process book requests, and handle payments for fines and fees.
• Assist patrons with using library computers and specialized software.
• Create, develop, and conduct public library programs and sessions.
• Provide information on library policies and resolve customer service issues.
• Assist in materials selection, basic cataloging, and reporting on library statistics.
