Job Details: Job Location: Newberry College - Newberry, SC 29108, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, The Program Manager for Career Development Technologies oversees designated career development technologies. Working directly with students and in collaboration with faculty, academic programs, information technology staff, vendors, and campus partners, the Program Manager integrates these resources into coursework and career preparation activities and expands access to scalable career development services. Through technology-supported coaching, training, outreach, and assessment, the position strengthens students' career planning, workforce readiness, and preparation for post-graduate opportunities. The position provides individualized career coaching, proactive outreach, and career readiness programming to assigned student populations. The Program Manager plans and carries out this work in coordination with the Director of the Muller Center for Careers & Purpose, ensuring that priorities, platform use, implementation activities, and program development remain aligned with Center priorities, grant objectives, established program goals, and institutional needs.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Technology Implementation and Administration
- Lead implementation and ongoing administration of designated career development technologies, including Big Interview and Big Resume.
- Manage daily technology operations, platform settings, user access, content, workflows, and user support.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of additional approved career-planning and goal-setting technologies.
- Develop and maintain implementation and training documentation and standard operating procedures.
Program Direction, Vendor Coordination, and Institutional Collaboration
- Develop recommendations for platform configuration, expansion, and improvement.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for vendors and internal partners.
- Collaborate with information technology and institutional offices on access, integrations, privacy, security, accessibility, and compliance.
Faculty Support and Student Engagement
- Build relationships with faculty and academic programs.
- Identify opportunities to integrate technologies into courses and co-curricular experiences. Develop faculty and staff implementation and training materials.
- Provide faculty and staff training and support.
- Develop and provide student coaching, workshops, training, and classroom presentations that use career development technologies to strengthen resume development, interview preparation, career planning, and career decision-making.
- Develop student outreach and technology-adoption strategies.
Assessment and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor utilization, participation, completion, and outcome data, maintaining accurate records and dashboards and identifying trends, implementation barriers, and opportunities to improve student engagement and program effectiveness.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate project data and implementation findings for grant reporting, institutional assessment, decision-making, and continuous improvement. Prepare timely updates and recommendations for the Director.
- Gather feedback to inform improvements to the initiative.
- Remain current on career development, educational technology, artificial intelligence, and vendor capabilities.
- Participate in committees, grant activities, and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time, grant-funded position. The work schedule will be established in coordination with the Director of the Muller Center for Careers & Purpose and may vary based on implementation needs and the College's academic calendar. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for training, student programming, campus events, and outreach activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in higher education, career development, educational technology, instructional design, student affairs, business, communication, information systems, or a related field.
- Experience supporting technology-based programs or services, including implementation, user training, system administration, customer support, or related responsibilities.
- Experience working directly with students or other users in career development, workforce development, higher education, student success, training, or a related setting.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage timelines, document processes, identify risks, and follow through on commitments.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and communicate participation and outcome data for program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to train users, facilitate workshops, explain technology clearly, and build effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and campus partners.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment within established priorities and decision-making structures, recognizing when issues, risks, recommendations, or proposed changes require consultation or approval.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle student and institutional information responsibly while supporting a diverse student population through inclusive, student-centered practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, career development, educational technology, instructional design, business, communication, information systems, or a related discipline.
- Experience in college career services, educational technology, student success, workforce development, or a related higher education environment.
- Experience implementing or administering cloud-based platforms, particularly career development, advising, assessment, learning management, or student engagement technologies.
- Experience designing and delivering faculty, staff, or student training and developing implementation guides, learning resources, presentations, or related support materials.
- Familiarity with system integrations, single sign-on, data reporting, accessibility, data privacy, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in student-facing services.
- Experience with vendor coordination, technology evaluation, data visualization, program assessment, or grant-supported initiatives.
