Job summary

Volunteers of America Massachusetts is seeking a Program Director to oversee the SSVF program serving Cape Cod and the Islands. You will manage staff, ensure program compliance, and lead outreach to veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in education, counseling psychology, rehabilitative counseling, or related human service field, or equivalent preferred.
• Significant case management experience with veterans experiencing homelessness or housing instability and their families is required.
• Five years of management experience in homeless services, including supervision, budget/fiscal management, contract monitoring/audits, and reporting to funders/regulators.
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, community leadership, and ability to develop partnerships with community-based and veteran-serving organizations.
• Experience conducting community outreach, developing referral networks, and engaging veterans facing homelessness or housing instability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SSVF case managers and program staff with weekly supervision.
• Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and practices for training, supervision, and monitoring.
• Promote the SSVF model of homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintain communication with staff.
• Ensure compliance with SSVF requirements and VOAMASS policies.
• Lead outreach in Cape Cod and the Islands to identify eligible veterans.
• Build relationships with hospitals, Continuums of Care, housing authorities, shelters, and veteran service organizations.
• Attend community meetings and initiatives to raise awareness of SSVF services.
• Develop a strong referral network and monitor outreach effectiveness.
• Communicate with VA partners and program offices, addressing concerns and coordinating efforts.
• Monitor program performance and implement improvements as needed.
• Ensure records and reports are accurate and submitted timely.
• Review and approve temporary financial assistance (TFA) per SSVF requirements.
• Verify veteran eligibility for SSVF services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
