University at Buffalo is seeking a Staff Assistant to support the Tutoring and Academic Support Services Office (TASS). The role includes coordinating the PAL program, assisting with First-Generation and other events, and providing daily administrative support to ensure smooth operations.

The position reports to the Assistant Director and aims to enhance academic success and learning experiences for undergraduate students. Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with creative problem-solving and planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related administrative tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program, including service delivery, outreach to PAL faculty, hiring and training PAL student staff, and program assessment.
  • Assist with coordination and support of special events including First-Generation, Open Houses, Welcome Week, and regularly scheduled workshops.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Tutoring and Academic Support Services office.
  • Provide coordination support for TASS academic support sessions including logistics, communications, scheduling.
  • Assist with coordination of the Academic Success Strategies course logistics (materials, scheduling support) and teach a section of the course.

Job description

The University at Buffalo (UB) Tutoring and Academic Support Services Office ( TASS ) seeks to hire a creative, energetic, detail-oriented, and responsible Staff Assistant. The Staff Assistant will support the implementation and coordination of TASS programs, including scheduling support for the peer assisted learning program, space and logistical support for the First-Generation programming and summer bridge program. The Staff Assistant will ensure effective day-to-day operations that align with the departmental goals. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Tutoring and Academic Support Services, this position contributes to our mission of providing innovative programming and quality services to support learning and academic success.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Peer Assisted Learning ( PAL ) Program, including delivery of services, outreach to PAL faculty, hiring and training of PAL student staff, and program assessment.
  • Assist with the coordination and support of special events including First-Generation, Open Houses, Welcome Week in addition to regularly scheduled workshops and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as high-level. organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a high attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team and engage in creative problem-solving and planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience working in a tutoring center with a supplemental instruction program.
