Reports To: Director of Academic Success and AccessibilityServices
Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Success andAccessibility Services, the Program Coordinator oversees the dailyoperations of both the Center for Academic Success and theSpecialized Resource Center at Manhattan University. The ProgramCoordinator ensures that tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, andother peer academic support programs are effectively staffed anddelivered, while also ensuring that accommodations andaccessibility services are provided efficiently, confidentially,and in compliance with university, state, and federal ADA policies.The Program Coordinator supervises peer educators, builds strategicrelationships with faculty and campus partners, and serves as apoint of contact for both areas.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, andstudent-centered, and is capable of managing multiple programs,student staff, and competing priorities across two distinct butcomplementary service areas.
Job Responsibilities
Academic Success
- Oversee daily operations of tutoring, Supplemental Instruction,and other peer academic support services — including staffing,scheduling, and space utilization serving as a primary point ofcontact for students, faculty, and peer educators.
- Recruit, train, and supervise peer educators, coordinatinghiring, onboarding, and professional development, and addressingday-to-day performance and scheduling matters in consultation withthe Director.
- Coordinate faculty outreach and course partnerships to identifyneed and support integration of academic support services into thecurriculum.
Accessibility Services
- Manage a caseload of students to advise on and coordinateaccommodations — including exam proctoring, alternate formatmaterials, assistive technology, and outside services such as ASLinterpreting and real-time transcription — in adherence to ADApolicies and protocols.
- Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinatingaccommodation-related student staff, and maintain related logisticssuch as the Emergency Locator Chart.
- Serve as liaison to accessibility technology vendors anduniversity accessibility coordinators, and keep the office currenton best practices in the field.
Shared Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness across both areas bycollecting and analyzing participation and utilization data, andpreparing reports, surveys, and assessments for internal andexternal audiences.
- Maintain office technology, student databases, and web contentfor both centers, and develop or refine work plans and proceduresto guide service delivery.
- Represent both centers at campus events, orientations, andcommittees; contribute to strategic planning and specialinitiatives; and support training or workshops that advance themission of each area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in higher education, studentaffairs, education, counseling, disability studies, academicsupport, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in academic support, studentsuccess, tutoring, or disability/accessibility services environmentwithin an education environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, supervisingstudent employees, and developing or facilitating training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Actof 1973, the ADA of 1990 and its 2008 amendments, and relateduniversity, state, and federal policies.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, andproblem-solving skills, with sensitivity to the confidential andunique needs of students.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty,staff, students, and campus partners, including diverse andinternational student populations.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices and theacademic success of diverse student populations.
Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of assistive technologies for persons withdisabilities; experience with AIM case management softwarepreferred.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and informrecommendations.
- Proficiency with standard office technology, schedulingsystems, and student database systems.
