Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study through their college or university.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Friendly and comfortable interacting with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Flexible and willing to assist with different programs and activities.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual skills are not required but would be helpful.
  • Previous nonprofit or program experience is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up and preparing spaces for programs and events.
  • Help Friendly Center staff and community partners with program activities.
  • Assist with our food distribution and help keep the area organized.
  • Support computer classes and other educational programs as needed.
  • Assist with our after‑school program and help maintain a welcoming and organized environment.
  • Help with holiday events, including Thanksgiving and Christmas activities.
  • Greet and assist clients participating in Friendly Center programs.
  • Help with cleanup and breakdown following programs and events.
  • Provide friendly and respectful customer service to clients, partners, volunteers, and staff.
  • Assist with other program‑related tasks as needed.

Anticipated Pay Range

Friendly Center is looking for a dependable and flexible Federal Work‑Study student to serve as a Program Assistant at our Rose Building. The Program Assistant will help set up and support programs offered by Friendly Center and our community partners.

This position will provide an opportunity to work with a variety of programs and activities throughout the year. Depending on the day, the Program Assistant may assist with our food distribution, computer classes, after‑school programs, holiday events, or other programs offered to our clients.

Schedule Requirements

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM or 2:00 PM–5:30 PM; Thursdays, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

Students should be available to work at least 8 hours per week. Additional hours may be available during Friendly Center’s holiday events, including our Thanksgiving and Christmas programs at the end of the year.

Desired Qualifications
  • Conversational Spanish a plus.
