Job summary

University of Miami seeks a board-certified pathologist to join the Department of Pathology in a hospital-based faculty role. Responsibilities include surgical pathology, intraoperative assessments, and subspecialty work in hematopathology and laboratory medicine.

Clinical duties encompass patient care at UMH/JMH and affiliated centers, with frozen sections, autopsies, and 24/7 on-call coverage as assigned. Participation in education and research is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be an M.D or D.O. who is Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
• Knowledge of JCAHO, CAP and CLIA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH and satellites; focus on assigned specialty.
• Gross description, photography, tissue sampling, microscopic exam, and reporting findings timely.
• Perform Frozen Section diagnoses when applicable.
• Perform autopsies when applicable.
• 24 hours call coverage per division requirements.
• Contribute to educational activities for pathology residents, fellows and medical students.
• Participate in collaborative research and quality assurance activities; support accreditation efforts.
