Job summary

The University of Miami Health System seeks a skilled pathologist to join the Department of Pathology. The candidate will provide patient care across UMH, JMH and related centers, with emphasis on surgical pathology and subspecialties.

Applicants must be MD or DO, board certified or eligible in Anatomic or Clinical Pathology, Florida licensed, and committed to education, research, and maintaining accreditation standards. This is a full-time faculty position in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• MD or DO board certified or eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Florida.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH and satellites and SCCC.
• Gross description, tissue sampling, microscopic examinations and reporting of findings.
• Perform Frozen Section diagnoses when applicable.
• Perform autopsies when applicable.
• 24 hours call coverage according to assigned division.
• Participate in educational activities of pathology residents and fellows.
• Participate in educational activities of medical students.
• Participate in collaborative research and seek sponsored programs funding.
• Participate in daily quality assurance and pathology committees and working groups.
• Maintain accreditation standards (JCAHO/CAP/CLIA).
