Job description

As a member of the Talent Management Department, the Professional Development Coordinator provides support to the Professional Development team in the development, retention, and engagement of Firm attorneys.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for tracking and managing attorney leave of absences.
  • Facilitating the departure process, maintaining exit interview data, identifying trends and recommending actions to address concerns.
  • Provide written correspondence to attorneys regarding any changes to their employment status and ensuring the HRIS system is updated accordingly.
  • Assist with policy research, drafting, and implementation.
  • Ensure that attorney compensation and review processes run smoothly and efficiently, recommend new approaches and best practices that will result in improvements.
  • Maintain all review process calendars and ensure that each process runs on time.
  • Assist with attorney evaluation processes; understand evaluation software and implement effective utilization of software.
  • Provide support for attorney development programs, including mentoring and other training. Review effectiveness of programs and suggesting new content; research trends and best practices.
  • Assist with attorney onboarding and integration.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and tracking.
  • Provide support to Chief Talent Officer, Director of Professional Development, and Attorney Development Manager in handling legal personnel and employee relations issues.
  • Assist with planning and executing attorney retreats and morale building events.
  • Provide support for 1st Year Associate orientation program.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Various short-term and long-term projects, as assigned.
  • Assists with other related administrative duties, as assigned.
  • Oversee workflow of File Clerks.

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a fast-paced human resources department with an emphasis on employee relations.
  • Law firm experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HRIS and performance management software.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal relations skills; strong internal client focus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

VISUAL ACUITY

Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
