The Opportunity...

This person will support the preparation and submission of letters of intent and grant proposals to prospective government funders, as well as monitor deliverables for active proposals.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Government Strategy and Development, the Government Development Coordinator is uniquely positioned to support GRID’s national and regional affiliate fundraising through government grant proposal writing, prospect research, and ownership of the team’s grant proposal resources. Candidates for this position are comfortable with project and proposal coordination, grant writing, partnership coordination, relationship management, and tracking metrics. Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals to government funders and government-funded industry partners, including researching new opportunities, writing proposal sections, assembling proposal attachments, and required forms.
  • Ensure the quality and compliance of final proposal documents.
  • Ensure the proposal is free of grammar, spelling, and typographical errors.
  • Develop and maintain the Government Development team’s grant proposal deadline and reports calendar.
  • As needed, support regions with direct grant proposal project management, compliance and submission.
  • Coordinate the compilation and maintenance of the proposal content library and other key organizational information for use by HQ and regional fundraising staff in grant proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials.
  • Manage the annual compilation of key organizational and HQ Programs information and outcomes tracking in partnership with philanthropy operations staff.
  • Update and maintain a folder of key grant proposal attachments and fundraising materials, Haystack (intranet), and other grant writing resource locations.
  • Serve as HQ point of contact for questions from regional Development and HQ Programs staff on locating resources for use in grant proposals and reports.
  • As needed, work with the HQ Communications team to request updates to 1-pagers, proposal templates, org charts, pitch decks, and other key government fundraising documents.
  • Support the success of the Government Development Team by supporting HQ and Regional government development managers with prospecting, market research and completing additional administrative duties.
  • Research projects to identify and cultivate prospective government funders.
  • Support with scheduling prospect meetings, data entry, meeting notes/task lists, and leading follow-up activities.
  • Track, maintain, and ensure accuracy of the Salesforce database for government grant records.
  • Other project management duties as assigned.

What you need to bring to this role...

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of government fundraising or project management experience. Substituting other equivalent experience may be considered for an exceptional candidate who makes a compelling case in their cover letter.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of previous, demonstrated proposal coordination and grant writing experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous demonstrated prospect research experience
  • Excellent communication, persuasive writing, editing, and templating skills
  • Strong project management, organization, and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven
  • Solid leadership and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Salesforce applications
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Experience working with remote teams is preferred
  • Passionate about clean energy, affordable housing, and/or environmental and social justice work

*Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.

Where you will sit & the places you may go…

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
