Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. seeks a Shift Supervisor to oversee galvanizing production, material flow, and quality control.

You will lead daily shop operations, set priorities to meet shipping commitments, and enforce safety and housekeeping standards on the production floor. You will manage equipment maintenance, review performance plans, and ensure products meet quality standards while training new staff and reporting to the General Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of leadership experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to present information one-on-one and to an audience.
• Strong leadership to support divisional objectives.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Implement work schedule to maximize manpower, machines, and materials and assign work to hourly employees.
• Process parts to meet production schedule and advise management of difficulties.
• Monitor performance of personnel, complete performance reviews, and take corrective action.
• Report discrepancies in blueprints, specifications, and methods to upper management.
• Ensure product quality meets standards and inspections are performed.
• Report and investigate all incidents in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate reporting of time and production through reports.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and monthly safety meetings.
• Administer company policies firmly and consistently.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe conditions in the work area.
• Train new employees in department activities and safety procedures.
