Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Steele, Alabama is seeking a Shift Supervisor for the Galvanizing department. You will oversee production, material flow, and quality control, and supervise daily shop operations to meet shipping commitments.

You will lead safety practices, enforce PPE, and manage 10–20 direct reports, with shift goals aligned to the division's objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years leadership experience in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and assign work to hourly employees to maximize resources.
• Identify hazards, document them, and take corrective actions.
• Lead safety meetings and enforce PPE compliance.
• Coordinate production flow to meet schedules and advise managers of difficulties.
• Monitor performance and conduct employee reviews.
• Report discrepancies to Operators Manager and address quality issues.
• Ensure product quality and conduct inspections.
• Report incidents promptly and maintain accurate production records.
• Lead shift start-up meetings and monthly safety meetings.
• Enforce company policies consistently.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe working conditions.
• Train new employees in department activities and safety procedures.
