Wilcox Landscaping is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our growing business as a Production Manager.

The Opportunity

The Production Manager is responsible for directly supervising field staff and managing client jobs to ensure the crews consistently perform high-quality work, meet client requirements, and fulfill them profitably and efficiently, while following company policies and procedures and maintaining all operations and safety standards. This is achieved through comprehensive knowledge of landscape maintenance, landscape equipment, labor, and quality control.

The overall success of the branch depends on the Production Manager’s ability to clearly communicate, understand scope of work, estimate and schedule, supervise crew performance, and control direct costs such as labor and materials. The Production Manager reports directly to and works closely with the Account Managers to ensure client expectations are met.

  1. Work with the team to ensure that all services are delivered according to contract specifications, on budget, according to schedule, and with a high standard of quality.
  2. Familiarity with the contracts and performance specifications for all jobs is essential to ensure performance and profitability, by monitoring the work performed relative to these specifications and continually tracking compliance.
  3. Supervise daily crew activities, including Leads and Crew Members.
  4. Demonstrate role model behaviors in ethics and integrity, and promote company culture and safety.
  5. Coordinate work to ensure prompt completion, including efficient scheduling based on work priorities, crew or equipment availability, or weather conditions.
  6. Assign work to employees with proper training and required credentials.
  7. Schedule new and existing work in Aspire to reflect the most efficient routing for each crew.
  8. Review and approve daily crew time in Aspire.
  9. Carry out all activities professionally and proactively to foster long-term client relationships.
  10. Work with the Shop Manager and Account Manager to ensure proper equipment and materials are ready for upcoming jobs.
  11. Monitor and maintain labor budgets and other costs to meet income from operations.
  12. Develop and maintain crew routes, schedules, and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently.
  13. Provide accurate and timely paperwork flow between field and office.
  14. Evaluate crew members' performance and make recommendations regarding promotions, demotions, dismissals, wages, etc.
  15. Hold crew leaders accountable to budgets, quality standards, company goals, and values.
  16. Assist in training team members on labor methods and techniques.
  17. Assist in safety training and promote a safe environment. Report accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  18. Keep phone on when crews are working or when weather conditions require.
  19. Inform employees of procedures and policies and hold them accountable. Lead by example!
  20. Meet regularly with Crew Leaders and Account Managers.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in commercial landscaping at the crew foreman level or higher.
  • A degree in horticulture, turf grass science, landscape technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Functional proficiency in speaking and understanding Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with safety best practices for crew members, the public, and the environment.
