Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions in Chicago is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to drive safety, quality and production performance on the plant floor. You will lead shift teams, coordinate with maintenance, and implement lean practices to meet production goals.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management, 3 years supervisory experience, Lean knowledge, and strong communication. Six Sigma cert is a plus; flexibility to work multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management required.
• 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus.
• Previous Labor Relations experience.
• Previous experience working in a Lean environment; Embraces continuous improvement.
• Self-directed team player.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and training to accomplish production objectives for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance.
• Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure goals are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Works with the operations team to ensure vacancies are covered for planned/unplanned absences.
• Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
• Enters production data to measure and monitor KPIs around efficiencies, downtime, inventory and production.
• Updates communication boards to keep the production floor informed about metrics.
• Leads employee start-up meetings.
• Controls and improves efficiencies, minimizes overtime, downtime and repair expenses.
• Implements cost-effective systems where necessary.
• Promotes shop floor organization and lean techniques such as 5S with shift personnel.
• Acts as first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure; directs maintenance to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance.
• May conduct tool store inventory reviews to ensure tools/parts are available when needed.
• Prepares and reviews worked hours for payroll submission.
