Job summary

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem with a cloud-native clearing and custody platform. We operate trading systems across Linux and network infrastructure, focusing on monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization.

We seek engineers who own production systems, extend our tooling in Grafana/Wireshark/Ansible/pytest, and improve latency and reliability for high-volume markets. NY-based, on-site four days a week, with robust compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional experience in production engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Linux-native with strong OS, file, process management and networking skills.
• Strong Python skills for backend development and clean code.
• GitOps mindset: infrastructure as code.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the daily operation of production trading systems: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and troubleshooting across Linux hosts and network infrastructure.
• Extend our monitoring/alerting stack (Grafana, Wireshark) and deployment/testing tooling (Ansible, pytest).
• Optimize software and hardware latency, throughput, and jitter, including work in C++ and hardware testing.
• Interface with external venue/counterparty systems; identify failure patterns and propose upgrades for resilience.
• Weigh risk/reward in real-time decisions affecting live trading; assist traders and non-technical users.
