Job summary

Clear Street is building a greenfield, low-latency C++ execution platform with FIX connectivity and real-time risk controls. You will shape an order-entry gateway, real-time market data handlers, and deep integration with U.S. exchanges and dark venues.

The role sits on a core infrastructure team and blends design, implementation, and performance engineering. Hybrid work requiring 4 days in office in New York, NY or Lisle, IL.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building high-performance, low-latency C++ systems.
• Deep knowledge of FIX protocol (4.2/4.4) and full order lifecycle.
• Experience with exchange market data protocols (ITCH, OUCH, binary).
• Strong understanding of low-latency architecture and hot-path profiling.
• Experience with multicast messaging (Aeron, LBM, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of U.S. equity market structure, Reg NMS, lanes and venues.
• Comfortable working in Linux with OS-level performance tuning.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS/Engineering/Math.

Responsibilities

• Client-facing FIX gateway — design and harden the FIX acceptor and full order lifecycle.
• Market data infrastructure — build feed handlers for ITCH, OUCH, binary feeds.
• Execution and venue connectivity — optimize latency and validate routing.
• Pre-trade risk controls — implement real-time checks with microsecond budgets.
• Platform infrastructure — contribute to internal messaging and audit tools.
• Algorithmic strategy migration — move strategies to the new platform over time.
