Job summary

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is seeking a Production Control Supervisor to oversee the planning, scheduling, and tracking of production activities to ensure on-time delivery, efficient use of resources, and smooth coordination between manufacturing, materials, and other supporting departments.

The role leads a team of production control clerks and schedulers, manages daily production schedules, and resolves issues that impact workflow while meeting output targets and customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and inventory control principles.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor) or similar software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities with a proven track record of managing a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor production control clerks and schedulers; assign tasks and review daily performance.
• Develop and adjust master production schedules based on customer orders, capacity, and material availability.
• Monitor work order status and production progress; identify bottlenecks and resolve shortages.
• Coordinate with materials/purchasing, quality, maintenance, and shipping to ensure schedule alignment and on-time delivery.
• Analyze production data and prepare reports to support decision-making.
• Balance workload across production lines/shifts to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
• Lead daily production meetings to communicate priorities and schedule changes.
• Ensure accurate data entry into ERP/MRP systems for work orders, inventory and status.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for disruptions; assist in capacity planning and forecasting.
• Enforce safety, quality, and company policies within production control; oversee NC and ECO processes.
