Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a dedicated manual tester to support the Product & UX portfolio at ASU. You will serve as the last line of verification before changes reach students, faculty, or staff.

You will translate requirements into test plans, execute functional, regression and exploratory testing across releases, document defects with steps, screenshots and logs, and coordinate UAT with stakeholders. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of testing experience.
  • Experience writing and executing manual test cases and test plans against requirements or acceptance criteria.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects through resolution.
  • Experience with functional and regression testing across multiple releases.
  • Excellent written communication for test documentation and defect reporting.
  • Experience with test case management or defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Experience testing web or SaaS applications, including cross-browser or basic accessibility checks.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing across releases.
  • Identify, document, reproduce, and track defects through resolution using steps, screenshots, and logs.
  • Work with developers and Product Managers to confirm fixes and re-test as needed.
  • Support user acceptance testing by preparing scenarios, coordinating stakeholder participation, and consolidating feedback.
  • Maintain test case libraries and testing documentation.
  • Assess release readiness and communicate quality risks, defect severity, and open issues for go/no-go decisions.
  • Coordinate testing schedules around release timelines and ASU's academic calendar.
  • Develop working knowledge of products under test, their user base, and ASU's academic operations.
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas to improve unit efficiency and performance.
  • Foster a positive culture, uphold organizational values, and champion engagement.
  • Collaborate across teams and participate in ET/ASU events and programs.

Job description

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Experience writing and executing manual test cases and test plans against documented requirements or acceptance criteria
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects through resolution
  • Experience with functional and regression testing across multiple releases
  • Attention to detail and ability to reproduce and clearly communicate issues to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong written communication skills for test documentation and defect reporting
  • Experience with test case management or defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience coordinating or supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders
  • Experience testing web or SaaS applications, including cross-browser or basic accessibility checks
  • Familiarity with agile/scrum release cycles and sprint-based testing timelines
  • Experience supporting products in higher education, student information systems, or other enterprise/institutional software

  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and various technologies
  • Ability to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances
  • Ability to quickly change priorities and resolve conflicts
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, criminal background check, and fingerprint check
