Job summary

ATI Specialty Materials invites applications for the Summer 2027 Material Science/ Metallurgy Engineering Intern position in Monroe, NC. As a Product Engineering Intern, you will transform alloy designs into manufacturable, high-performance products while applying your materials science or mechanical engineering background to real production environments.

You will work on optimizing processing parameters, standardizing heat treatment steps, and supporting metallurgy-related improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0 or higher (preferred).
• Interest in product development, metallurgy, or high-performance alloy applications.
• Familiarity with Excel, data analysis tools, or metallurgical lab techniques.

Responsibilities

• Optimizing Boeing shapes processing parameters to support process performance and consistency.
• Standardizing reheat points for nickel shapes and rectangles.
• Supporting process improvement activities related to materials processing and metallurgy.
• Applying materials science and metallurgical concepts to hands-on manufacturing projects.
