The role emphasizes CAD ownership (2D/3D), involvement with liftgates and tailgates, and evaluating manufacturing compatibility for sheet metal and molded parts. A strong mechanical background is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Design & Release, Vehicle Integration, or Body Exterior Engineering.
• Strong CAD skills and ability to create engineering sections and packaging studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility assessments for exterior systems and surfaces.
• Develop engineering hard points and master section guidance.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve feasibility challenges.
• Create and review 2D and 3D CAD solutions.
• Support rear-end system development (liftgates, tailgates, bumpers, fascia, lighting).
• Evaluate manufacturing compatibility for sheet metal and molded components.

Now Hiring: Product Engineer - Body Exterior (Hybrid)

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay Rate: $46.06/hour

Schedule: Hybrid | 4 Days On-Site per Week

Are you an experienced Product Engineer with a passion for vehicle body systems and cross-functional collaboration? Join a leading automotive engineering team where you'll help bridge design, engineering, and manufacturing to bring innovative exterior vehicle concepts to life.

Job Duties

• Lead feasibility assessments for vehicle exterior systems and surfaces.


• Develop engineering hard points and master section guidance.


• Collaborate with design, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve feasibility challenges.


• Create and review 2D and 3D CAD solutions.


• Support vehicle rear-end system development, including liftgates, tailgates, bumpers, fascia, and lighting components.


• Evaluate manufacturing compatibility for sheet metal and molded components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.


• 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Design & Release, Vehicle Integration, or Body Exterior Engineering.


• Strong CAD skills with experience creating engineering sections and packaging studies.


• Experience with CATIA, 3DX, and TeamCenter preferred.


• Knowledge of sheet metal stamping, injection molding, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.


• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
