Job summary

Employee Workplace in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Product Engineer for Body Exterior on a hybrid schedule, combining on-site collaboration with remote work. You will lead feasibility studies and develop exterior system specifications, working with design and manufacturing teams to deliver robust solutions.

You will review 2D/3D CAD, engage with suppliers, and ensure manufacturability of body exterior components. A mechanical engineering background and 5+ years in related roles are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in Product Engineering, Design & Release or Body Exterior Engineering.
• Strong CAD skills with experience in sections and packaging studies.
• Experience with CATIA, 3DX and TeamCenter preferred.
• Knowledge of sheet metal stamping, injection molding and manufacturing processes.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility assessments for exterior vehicle systems and surfaces.
• Develop engineering hard points and master section guidance.
• Collaborate with design, engineering and supplier teams to resolve feasibility challenges.
• Create and review 2D and 3D CAD solutions.
• Support rear-end system development, including liftgates, tailgates, bumpers, fascia and lighting.
• Evaluate manufacturing compatibility for sheet metal and molded components.

Job Duties

• Lead feasibility assessments for vehicle exterior systems and surfaces.

• Develop engineering hard points and master section guidance.

• Collaborate with design, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve feasibility challenges.

• Create and review 2D and 3D CAD solutions.

• Support vehicle rear-end system development, including liftgates, tailgates, bumpers, fascia, and lighting components.

• Evaluate manufacturing compatibility for sheet metal and molded components.
