Advantage Technical in Dearborn, MI is seeking an Exterior Lighting Engineer to design, develop, and validate exterior lighting components and systems for multiple vehicle programs. You will work with cross-functional teams to bring innovative lighting solutions from concept to production in a fast-paced automotive environment.

The role requires hands-on testing, CAD modeling using CATIA V5 and 3DX, and collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in automotive lighting or product development.
• Proficient in CATIA, Teamcenter, or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with validation, manufacturing processes, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Exterior Lighting Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay Rate: $42.31/hour

Schedule: Hybrid (4 days onsite per week)

Join a collaborative engineering team where you'll help develop and improve exterior lighting systems used across multiple vehicle programs. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge lighting technologies while partnering with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Job Duties

• Design, develop, and validate exterior lighting components and systems.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models using CATIA V5, 3DX, or similar software.
• Perform hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of lighting components.
• Support product development activities including feasibility studies, cost analysis, and design reviews.
• Collaborate with purchasing, suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering teams to launch new products.
• Review and approve engineering documentation, validation plans, DFMEAs, and technical studies.
• Utilize manufacturing knowledge, including injection molding principles, to improve product design and manufacturability.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support suppliers, testing, and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive lighting, product development, or related engineering disciplines.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as CATIA, Teamcenter, or similar platforms.
• Experience with design validation, manufacturing processes, and engineering problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic engineering environment.
