Job summary

Jobtailor in Phoenix, AZ seeks an engineer to provide engineering support for Electric Power Generation products and systems, define mechanical architecture, and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.

You'll review customer specifications, coordinate drawings, lead RCCAs, and drive design-for-manufacturability and cost-reduction initiatives while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and DO-160 / MIL-STD-810. Travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (science, technology, engineering or mathematics).
  • Minimum of 4 years of industry experience or technically related work.
  • Experience in design and test of electric rotating machines (motors and generators).
  • Experience designing aerospace products to environmental standards such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.
  • Hands-on background in New Product Development, R&D, or aerospace testing.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Technical problem-solving ability through analytical thinking and innovation.
  • Ability to produce product designs in a requirements-based environment and manage change.

Job description

Provide engineering support for Electric Power Generation products and systems, satisfying customer, FAA, and internal requirements
Define mechanical architecture and concepts
Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers
Review customer specifications and contribute to compliance matrices
Review manufacturing drawings and coordinate drawing changes for product improvements and supplier performance
Serve as the engineering focal point for supplier questions
Lead investigations, conduct robust RCCAs, and resolve production, supply-chain, customer, field-failure, application, and design-related issues
Champion cost reduction, value engineering, reliability, and customer-satisfaction improvements
Coordinate design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability activities
Produce technically accurate reports communicating findings, analyses, and technical positions
Review and edit others’ technical work and provide constructive feedback
Develop and support engineer training plans
Handle hardware and perform assembly and disassembly using common tools and inspection instruments
Travel as required for field, customer, or supplier engagements

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in industry or technically related work
  • Experience in the design and test of electric rotating machines (motors and generators)
