Job summary

Jobtailor in United States is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for Electric Power Generation products. You will define mechanical architecture, provide technical leadership, and guide cooling, rotating components, and oil-cooling flow to meet customer and aerospace standards.

You will review specifications, coordinate drawings, mentor engineers, and drive design-for-manufacturability while improving reliability and cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience or technically related work.
  • Experience with motor and generator design and development is a strong plus.
  • Experience in design and testing of electric rotating machines (motors and generators).
  • Experience designing aerospace products to DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for Electric Power Generation products and systems meeting customer, FAA, and internal requirements.
  • Define mechanical architecture and concepts.
  • Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Guide cooling methodology, rotating component architecture, spline definition, bearing definition, and oil-cooling fluid flow.
  • Review customer specifications and contribute to compliance matrices.
  • Review manufacturing drawings and coordinate drawing changes for product improvements and supplier performance.
  • Act as engineering focal point for supplier questions.
  • Lead investigations, robust RCCA activities, and resolution of production, field, customer, application, and design-related issues.
  • Champion cost reduction, value engineering, reliability, and customer-satisfaction improvements.
  • Coordinate design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability efforts.
  • Produce technically accurate reports and technical position statements.
  • Review and edit others’ technical work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Mentor engineers and support training plans.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry hardware, design trends, and emerging mechanical engineering and design-analysis techniques.
  • Handle hardware and perform assembly and disassembly using hand tools, power tools, and inspection instruments.
  • Travel as required for field, customer, or supplier engagements.
  • Report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry or technically related work
  • Motor and generator machine design and development experience is a strong plus
  • Experience in the design and test of electric rotating machines (motors and generators)
  • Experience designing aerospace products to standards such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-810
  • Hands-on background in New Product Development (NPD), R&D, or aerospace testing
  • Ability to work with minimal direction in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to solve technical problems through analytical thinking and innovation
  • Experience producing product designs in a requirements-based environment and controlling process
  • Ability to manage rapidly changing priorities and multiple concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to lead a team and coordinate others’ efforts
  • Ability to lead work efforts and motivate team members
  • Ability to think independently and formulate conclusions
  • Ability to transform creative ideas and new technology concepts into functional design elements
