Job summary

Honeywell is seeking a senior Chief Engineer for Electric Power products in the aerospace sector. You will oversee design, development, testing, and certification of power electronics, generator controls, and related systems for military and commercial aircraft.

Lead cross‑functional teams, drive regulatory compliance, and manage risk and quality across programs. This role requires a US citizenship, security clearance eligibility, a BS in Electrical Engineering, and 10+ years of relevant

  • Experience with ARP-4754/ARP-4761 principles
  • Experience with field-oriented motor controls and MIL-STD-704/MIL-PRF-21480

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and support for Electric Power products

  • Lead product strategy, roadmaps, qualification strategies, and certification plans
  • Oversee program execution, risks, reviews, and quality metrics
  • Lead root cause investigations and safety issue resolution
  • Engage with regulators, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance and performance
  • Champion transformation initiatives and process improvements across projects

Job description

  • Provide technical oversight and support for military and commercial Electric Power products, including engine start controllers, generator controls, power distribution products, generator integration, and motor controllers
  • Collaborate with the Honeywell Aerospace Engineering Organization, Integrated Supply Chain, Customer and Product Support, Product Integrity, and Quality
  • Engage frequently with customers, regulatory agencies, and suppliers to ensure compliance and world‑class performance
  • Serve as Design Authority with final accountability for Electric Power products
  • Partner with the Offering Manager as Chief Engineer and CTO for the Electric Power business
  • Lead Product Action Committee activities and use Chief Engineer/PAC scorecards to drive improvements and growth
  • Act as technical spokesperson with suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities
  • Lead process improvements, knowledge management, intellectual property planning, training, mentoring, and succession planning
  • Approve processes and tools used in product design, analysis, and testing
  • Drive product strategy, concept development, technology roadmaps, product requirements, qualification, and certification strategies
  • Guide and approve technical concepts, trade studies, program plans, statements of work, proposal estimates, and technical bases of estimate
  • Oversee program execution, risk mitigation, phase-gate reviews, design reviews, customer and regulatory compliance, throughput, cost, and quality
  • Lead root cause and corrective action investigations for field and production issues
  • Resolve critical in-service and delivery issues and participate in the Safety Review Board
  • Conduct safety assessments and close Product Condition Reports and safety issues
  • Champion transformation initiatives, challenge the status quo, and deploy improvement ideas across projects
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements
  • Must have or be eligible for a security clearance due to contractual requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in design and support of power electronics and associated control systems, requirements development, design, product development, testing, qualification, validation and verification, technology validation for new product introduction, and field issue resolution of Electric Power systems
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering is valued
  • Experience and knowledge of interactions and integration of Electric Power Systems in commercial and military aircraft applications
  • Experience or training in power electronics
  • Experience or training in thermal integration
  • Experience or training in electromagnetic compatibility principles
  • Experience or training in hardware and software development (DO-254 and DO-178)
  • Experience or training in ARP-4754 and ARP4761 fundamentals
  • Experience or training in field-oriented motor controls principles
  • Experience or training in aircraft power quality (MIL-STD-704, MIL-PRF-21480)
  • Experience or training in vapor cycle system working principles
  • Experience or training in wound field generator working principles
