Job summary

Jobtailor in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer/Technical Program Manager to lead new manufacturing techniques and cost-improvement initiatives. You will review designs for manufacturability, manage RD readiness items, and align with APQP/DFMEA/PPAP standards while coordinating with Engineering and Sourcing to meet capacity and cost targets.

The role requires 5+ years in engineering or TPM, strong Six Sigma credentials, and proficiency with SAP/Teamcenter.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Electrical, Aerospace)
  • 5+ years of Engineering, Technical Program Management or Integrated Supply Chain experience
  • 3+ years performing manufacturing engineering and/or technical program management on complex mechanical or electromechanical products
  • Product knowledge in turbo machinery, electric motors, electric power generation systems
  • Ability to read engineering mechanical drawings and assess for manufacturability and producibility
  • Knowledge of specialized metallurgy, heat treatment, processes and finishes, casting and machining processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and MS Project
  • Manufacturing and supplier factory floor exposure requiring safety shoes and glasses
  • Knowledge of oral, written, and presentation communication
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques and their impact on costs
  • Project management proficiency, including closing initiatives on time and within budget
  • Green Belt, DFSS, Black Belt, Lean, or HOS certification; demonstrated ability in using Six Sigma tools
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA/MSA and other APQP elements
  • Knowledge of SAP, Teamcenter, and other data system applications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of new manufacturing techniques
  • Review designs for cost, quality, manufacturability, and yield
  • Manage Manufacturing Readiness Level items to meet IPDS goals
  • Manage Unit Product Cost models to meet Flawless Launch and APQP goals
  • Ensure design benefits from APQP artifacts (PMAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP)
  • Ensure product benefits from Flawless Launch artifacts (DFM Scorecard, Heat Map, PRR, MRA)
  • Interface with Engineering and Sourcing to identify suppliers meeting capacity, cost, and capability goals
  • Identify and manage new product assembly, test, tooling, equipment, and capital needs
  • Drive adherence to established product development processes
  • Manage cost takeout efforts and risk mitigation plans
  • Drive DFx activities across manufacturing, assembly, test, and Lean
  • Predict and manage Product Rolled Throughput Yield efforts
  • Facilitate Production Readiness Reviews and action closures
  • Interface with production cells to ensure smooth production transitions
  • Support product offering proposals
  • Provide scheduling, planning, and budget management to Program Management
  • Manage hardware delivery program milestones and maintain required metrics
  • Provide status presentations
  • Support AME standard work definition and tiered MOS accountability
  • Participate in cross-functional integrated product teams
