Job summary

Trane Technologies in La Crosse, WI, is seeking a Product Design Engineer II to join our Commercial Systems team. You will lead design efforts for water-to-water HVAC equipment, coordinating with test labs, manufacturing, and product management to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience, CAD and GD&T familiarity, and the ability to drive design decisions within a stage-gate process. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 3–5 years of engineering experience.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience with GD&T and regulatory codes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC refrigeration systems to meet performance, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and test results.
• Apply regulatory codes such as UL, CRN, seismic, and ASME to designs.
• Lead project teams and provide technical guidance.
• Perform design FMEAs and mitigate risks.
• Travel up to 5%.
