Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a Lead Refrigeration Systems Engineer to own HVAC system design and integration for Trane Commercial Water-to-Water products. You will model performance, lead validation, and drive quality and reliability with cross-functional teams including Chiller Engineering in La Crosse and global support groups.

Expect travel up to 10%. The role requires a senior engineer with 10+ years in HVAC system design, knowledge of DFMEA, Six Sigma tools, and manufacturing collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related) with 10+ years of experience.
• HVAC background in chilled/heating water systems.
• Experience with product design, BOMs, specs and manufacturing.
• Experience with coils, compressors, motors, fans.
• Experience launching products meeting UL/CSA/CE standards.
• Statistics applied to product reliability.
• Heat transfer and fluid flow knowledge for problem solving.
• Ability to condense information and be coachable by seniors.
• HVAC product design and data analytics experience is a plus.
• Strong technical writing and communication; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design and innovate HVAC refrigeration systems meeting performance targets.
• Lead major system development projects and coordinate schedules.
• Create models to simulate unit performance and analyze issues.
• Govern design reviews (FMEA/DFMEA/DVP&R).
• Develop mechanical designs leveraging chiller/heat pump architectures.
• Implement DFM features for efficient manufacturing.
• Develop test plans and analyze data with Six Sigma methods.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to team members.
• Support field and factory problem resolution.
• Define qualification testing and document system-level controls.
